Additional notes: all of this repretoire is played on the "normal" side of the marimba.
To non-percussionists programming percussion repertoire: 4.3-octave marimbas are smaller instruments that are more accesible in terms of cost and availability in younger groups, such as high schools. Many times, a high school student may only have access to a 4.3-octave marimba to practice at school.
Also, literature for small instrumentation (like this) can be helpful when scheduling multiple rehearsals at the same time, for different pieces. Music like this can be rehearsed anywhere there is a marimba, which can be helpful if another rehearsal is in progress using different equipment.
