I wrote Zephyr when I was sixteen, while reflecting on my experiences visiting Jiǔzhàigōu (九 寨 沟), or the Valley of the Nine Villages, a national park in Sichuan, China.

I. Forests was written about home, in the sense of where I was physically born (the United States).
II. Oceans was written about a journey away from home—flying over an ocean, and watching waves wander by.
III. Embers was written about home, in the sense of where my cultural identity is from (China).

Zephyr was premiered at the Allen ISD Performing Arts Center on February 29th, 2020 by Sebastian Zhang.
